It seems heartland teens (like the rest of the world) has sex on the brain–not really on the brain but I’ll leave it at that. They have an vlog (video blog) at midwestteensexshow.com/

I laughed out loud when I saw this! But does it really help? I think birth control should be taken more seriously and the fact they are trying to get information to teens is great but I wonder if the humor overshadows the content.

Whenever anyone talks about birth control pills (oral contraceptives) one of the first topics are “side effects”. Taking any drug comes with some consequences but what bugs me is that the focus on on the negatives.

Everyone should know what they are getting into and that means looking at the positives and the negatives then making your decision–not just the negative side.

The important thing is to make you contraceptive decision based on you life style. Are you single and dating. In that case you may want to use a condom, with or without birth control pills, to help protect against STDs. If your married and not ready to start a family, then all kinds of birth control methods are options–including natural such as the calendar method.

I found a post on a doctors blog about the positives of birth control so I figured I’s share it since there is a REAL authority behind it instead of “some guy” talking.
